Dr Otonye Bille Ayodele
I first met Pastor Akinola in 1977 when he was a Youth Corper (NYSC) in Port-Harcourt. Just like so many others, his godly aura, kindness, passion for God and souls and his talent as an Artist pulled me into his world. I eventually became a professional artist because of his mentorship, tutelage and very challenging influence. I remember very many Drawing and Painting studio classes that ended as fellowship sessions of his powerful preaching and prayer ministration. Many of us under that anointing in those days, have remained in the church today and as leaders and ministers of the gospel of Jesus Christ. His charisma was simply infectious! The greatest impact on peoples lives however was not only from his ministry but from the generous love he so freely lavished on everyone. Pastor Akinola knew virtually everyone he met personally by name and remembered them even including their friends and members of their families. His life and home was always filled with so many people that basked in his overwhelming love and generosity. Even when it was not convenient for him, Pastor Akinola will still love and fight for his people. He always looked out for his brothers, sisters and friends wherever and whatever conditions they were and will always have your back! He was a very dependable father, pastor, confidant, counselor, brother, friend, supporter and firm teacher. We will miss him very dearly. May the Lord continue to comfort us with the hope to meet again someday in glory. Adieu Pastor Stephen Akinola.
